Cosmetic Dermatology

Advanced Dermatology of Westchester offers a great variety of skin rejuvenation procedures. At your first appointment you will have a private consultation with either Dr. Jeffrey Sturza or Dr. Alison Stallings, who will evaluate your skin’s condition and recommend the treatment, or combination of treatments, that will help restore a more radiant, youthful glow.

Available cosmetic skin treatments include:

Laser Treatment for:

  • Brown spots, age spots, or sun spots
  • Hair removal
  • Rosacea (diffuse redness, broken blood vessels)
  • Spider veins
  • Fine lines and wrinkles, large pores, uneven skin tone and texture
  • Scars

Botox®, Dysport™, Xeomin®:

Treatments to help both men and women rejuvenate and revitalize their appearance. These neuromodulators block the nerve impulses of the injected muscles to temporarily paralyze muscle movements that cause wrinkles. Most often used for horizontal lines across the forehead, perpendicular frown lines between the brows (also called “The Elevens”), crow’s feet, nasal squint lines, lines around the neck, and eyebrow lifting.

Botox® for hiperhidrosis

Botulinum toxin A (Botox®) is used to minimize or eliminate excessive sweating of the armpits, palms, and soles in patients with a condition known as hyperhidrosis.  The treatment involves injection of small amounts of Botox® into the affected area(s) of skin. Botox® targets the nerves of the sweat glands and effectively reduces excessive sweating. A decrease in sweating generally occurs within 1 week of treatment. This treatment is not a cure for the condition and the loss of sweating fades after a period of time, which may vary from three to nine months. Re-treatment will be needed and average patients may require re-injection at approximately four to six month intervals.

Cosmetic Fillers

The aging process usually causes a gradual loss of fullness in the face, sagging or hollowed skin, flattened cheekbones, and various wrinkles and folds of the upper and lower face. Soft tissue fillers are flexible substances that can be injected into the skin to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, fill hollow cheeks and restore a youthful cheekbone, plump lips, improve scars, elevate deep folds, and repair various facial imperfections. The result is a smoother, more youthful appearance with minimal "downtime" and maximum safety.

  • Restylane®, Restylane® Silk, Restylane® Lyft

  • Juvéderm® Ultra, Juvéderm® Ultra Plus, Juvéderm® Voluma
  • Belotero Balance®

Sclerotherapy (Spider Vein Therapy)

Sclerotherapy is a popular method of eliminating superficial telangiectasias ("spider veins"). Spider veins (telangiectasias) are small, dilated capillaries seen frequently on the thighs, around the knees, on the calves, and around the ankles. The microinjection technique consists of instilling either a concentrated saline or sclerosant solution into the dilated vessels using very small needles. The solution irritates the inner lining of the vessels so they cease to carry blood, and the body slowly replaces them with invisible, harmless scar tissue. Several injections may be needed for a specific area of telangiectasias.  Usually the vessels disappear over 1 to 2 months, but occasionally fading is gradual over many months.

Scar Revision

If you're bothered by a scar, physicians can often improve the appearance of a scar, making it less obvious through the injection or application of certain steroid medications or through surgical procedures known as scar revisions. You can consult with one our physicians who will examine you and discuss the possible methods of treating your scar, the risks and benefits involved and the possible outcomes.

Lip Augmentation

Full, plump lips are synonymous with youth and sensuality. Lip augmentation using soft tissue fillers such as Juvéderm® and Restylane®, creates fuller, more plump lips and reduces fine wrinkles around the mouth. The procedure can achieve long lasting enhancement of both the upper and lower lips and results in a significantly more youthful overall impression. The procedure may be done under local anesthesia in the office setting and is customized to achieve the desired degree of enhancement.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peeling is used to improve the skin's appearance by applying a chemical solution to the skin, causing the top layers of skin to separate and peel off. The new skin is smoother, less wrinkled, and may be more even in color.  We perform light and medium depth chemical peeling.

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive treatment that uses tiny exfoliating crystals to gently exfoliate your skin.   After a series of treatments, your complexion can appear smoother, brighter, and more even in color.   This procedure can help diminish uneven skin tone or texture, dull complexion, age spots, and melasma.

Microdermabrasion can also help to improve the results gained from using topical anti-aging products, cosmeceuticals, and skin-bleaching products.  The procedure allows these products to penetrate the skin more easily.  In addition, the treatment can be performed in combination with a light chemical peel for enhanced benefits.
