Cosmetic Dermatology Treatments > Botox® For Sweating

Botulinum toxin A (Botox®) is used to minimize or eliminate excessive sweating of the armpits, palms, and soles in patients with a condition known as hyperhidrosis. Botox The treatment involves injection of small amounts of Botox® into the affected area(s) of skin. Botox® targets the nerves of the sweat glands and effectively reduces excessive sweating. A decrease in sweating generally occurs within 1 week of treatment. This treatment is not a cure for the condition and the loss of sweating fades after a period of time, which may vary from three to nine months. Re-treatment will be needed and average patients may require re-injection at approximately four to six month intervals.
